Work Rehabilitation is a broad term that combines many aspects of therapy and directed at your greater independence at work.
The goals of Work Rehabilitation are to:
Maximize your level of function following injury or illness to maintain a your quality of life .
Facilitate your safe and timely return to work following injury or illness

Assist you in resuming your work duties
Prevent deconditioning while you are rehabilitating from your injury
A targeted program combining the expertise of physical therapy and occupational therapy to improve tolerances for work-specific activities. Treatments include conditioning, stretching, strengthening, and work simulation as well as patient education for symptom management, injury prevention, and body mechanics training.
An extensive progression from work conditioning, work hardening incorporates stretching, strengthening, body mechanics training, and work simulation. The program typically starts at 4 hours daily and progresses to 8 hours daily over a 4 to 6 week period. This program is designed to improve endurance for an 8 hour day facilitating safe and timely return to work.
Functional/Physical Capacity Evaluation (FCE/PCE)
This 4 to 6 hour assessment is designed to systematically determine a person’s current functional abilities in regard to a variety of activities. The evaluation includes an interview and history, self-assessment tool, musculoskeletal evaluation and screening, and physical testing for position tolerances, mobility, and dynamic strength.
Ergonomic Job Site Evaluation
An analysis of the worker and work environment that identifies hazards, evaluates risks, and includes possible modifications or solutions to mitigate risks and optimize function.
Physical/Occupational therapy services custom designed for each company and conveniently located at the workplace. Services range from Early Intervention programs designed to prevent injury, stretching programs, and body mechanics training to full physical therapy services offered on the company’s premises.
Post Offer Testing/Post Employment Testing (POET)
Physical assessment to determine if a potential employee is physically capable of performing essential tasks of a specific job. Testing typically includes key lifting tasks and establishes whether or not a person can safely perform critical job demands. Post offer employment testing is designed to prevent injuries before they happen.
